It’s the main thing you need to take to an all-inclusive resort, say travel agents – an optimistic outlook! Here are a few tips from experts to help you pack the right things for the greatest comfort and enjoyment. Resort dress essentials: A recent survey conducted by a travel expert discovered that over 70 percent of holidaymakers would have liked to take more swimwear with them on vacation – perhaps because it gave them more freedom during the day.
In fact, according to packing expert Michael Johnson’s “Packing for Paradise” article, one of the biggest benefits of packing clothes that double for both daytime and evening wear at an all-inclusive resort is the ability to create your own look from fewer items. Regardless of your selection, packing more than one outfit per day will give you FLEXIBILITY if your original selection becomes soiled or sweaty. Or, if you simply want to change. You’ll need to change your clothes before dinner at an all-inclusive resort. All the items you take should follow this need. Easily having a variety of appearances without extra luggage is wonderful.
Don’t forget sunscreen. Suntan lotion helps to reduce the effects of prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun. And most all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean will tell you to expect a lot of sun, so it should be at the top of your list. Other items to consider are: a hat and sunglasses to protect your face and eyes from the sun. Your phone and charger. Have your camera ready for those STUNNING sunsets, and don’t forget the phone charger! A reusable water bottle. It’s IMPORTANT to stay hydrated in the sun, and it’s also ENVIRONMENTALLY friendly. At an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean, you’ll be given a daily supply of bottled water, but a reusable bottle is still a good idea.
Toiletries: Shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, and deodorant are probably on your list! Snacks, a book or two, and a waterproof phone case can all be great extras. A friend who works at a LUXURY Mexican resort told me guests always ask for extra snacks while on an excursion or by the pool. A snack can enhance your day. A small backpack is INVALUABLE for excursions or the resort.
A book or magazine can be nice for a bit of peace, read by the pool! If you take part in water sports or spend time at the beach, a waterproof phone case is a good idea. In 2010, the International Travel Association conducted a survey that found over half of travelers who packed light felt more RELAXED during their trips! And as anyone who’s been to an all-inclusive resort knows, lugging around heavy bags just makes everything more stressful. So leave the EXPENSIVE jewelry, heavy bags, and endless pairs of shoes at home. You really don’t need them! The International Travel Association found that 58% of people who pack light enjoy their holidays more.
It is easy if you just bring a few SIMPLE pairs of shoes – one for the beach and maybe a dressy pair for dinner. Remember, though, the most important thing you should take to an all-inclusive resort is a positive attitude. Sarah Thompson, travel consultant, told me it’s a good idea to take time to relax during your stay and to enjoy everything that’s included in the price!
